After falling a touch yesterday, the U.S. dollar is quiet this morning.
Overview
The dollar came under pressure yesterday as equities continued their run higher and the S&P 500 hit a record high. The economic data released yesterday also boosted sentiment.
While the Omicron variant is running rampant and disrupting many family gatherings this week, traders are increasing bets that the recent outbreak will not have a long-term, lasting negative effect on the global economy. New data out of the U.K. shows that the hospitalization rate of the new variant is significantly less than Delta. U.S. equity markets are closed today, and Treasury markets will close early. Expect the afternoon to be even quieter as Europe heads towards the holiday weekend. TEMPUS would like to wish you all a very happy and healthy Holiday Season!
