Markets open the week mostly subdued as many countries remain closed for the Christmas holiday.
Overview
Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, and the U.K. are all closed today, while most of Europe has reopened. The dollar is a touch stronger this morning, gaining 0.2%. The modest rebound comes after the greenback slipped 0.7% last week and touched its weakest level in a month.
Trading conditions are thin today and there is nothing in the way of fundamental data to dictate the direction of the greenback. American equity futures are slightly in the green and a pop higher would limit the dollar’s overnight gains. Except quiet trading before volatility ramps up tomorrow ahead of the New Year.
